The organisation’s strategic intent is to develop a college mindset in South Africa, which can serve as the development and accessibility of the college model.

The TVETCGC is dedicated to addressing the critical needs of the TVET sector through focused and impactful initiatives. These key focus areas reflect the organisation’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education, supporting the development of relevant skills, and driving strong industry partnerships. By targeting specific areas such as capacity building, digital literacy, and workforce readiness, TVETCGC aims to drive systemic change and empower learners, educators, and communities across South Africa.
Strengthening the capabilities of TVET institutions and educators to deliver high-quality training.
Enhancing digital skills and leveraging ICT to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
Providing accredited training that strengthens employability and entrepreneurial potential.
Core to the existence of the TVET Colleges Governance Council (TVETCGC) is the creation of a voluntary association tasked with addressing key areas such as capacity building of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges, policy advocacy, resource mobilisation, upskilling, corporate governance and playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of the TVET sector.
TVETCGC aims to pursue strategic alignment and performance within the TVET college sector through value-driven support, ethical leadership, organisational positioning, and meaningful stakeholder relationships within and outside the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) sector.
TVETCGC seeks to be a pivotal component of the PSET system, recognised for its strategic alignment and meaningful contributions to the performance and transformation of the TVET sector.
The TVETCGC is the sole representative body for the governing councils of public TVET colleges in South Africa. We facilitate high-level collaboration between colleges, industry bodies, and the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).
We strengthen leadership excellence and management practices across the sector. Our capacity-building initiatives ensure efficient college operations and provide the strategic guidance necessary for a high-quality educational environment.
Through strategic partnerships with industry leaders and SETAs, we build student employability and entrepreneurship. We focus on infrastructure modernisation to ensure graduates possess skills that meet real-world labour market demands.
The Annual Charity Golf Day is TVETCGC’s flagship event, bringing together stakeholders from government, industry, and the broader TVET sector. This platform is a space for high-utility engagement, where relationships are built and conversations around sector growth take place.
The success of the event is driven by strong corporate partnerships, with organisations coming on board to support, sponsor, and participate. These alliances play a primary role in strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors, while contributing to initiatives that support students, institutions, and communities.
Through this initiative, TVETCGC continues to build lasting relationships, mobilise support, and contribute to the development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in South Africa.
TVETCGC offers a variety of programmes and services aimed at enhancing the skills, knowledge, and employability of TVET students, lecturers, and institutions.
